Virgin Galactic’s spaceship gets warmed up

Having unveiled their fancy spaceship in December, Virgin Galactic have now given the VSS Enterprise its first airborne adventure. The first craft of the SpaceShipTwo class took off this week from the Mojave Spaceport in California, carried by White Knight II. (That’s actually two flying machines your seeing there, the VSS Enterprise is the bit in the middle and this is bit that will do the whole ‘space’ thing.)
Now, last year those flush chaps in Abu Dhabi invested one heck of a lot of money in Virgin Galactic. This should mean that at some point we’ll be seeing such spaceship sights over here. Obviously we haven’t got a spaceport yet (Ras Al Khaimah’s hilarious effort has sadly been canned), but I’d like to nominate Dubai Terminal Two, just so the departures board would read something like ‘Baghdad, Basra, Space, Mogadishu’.
